Flexural performance of reinforced concrete (RC) beam strengthened by UHPC layer

Reinforced concrete (RC) structures may be subjected to an increase in load, severe environmental attack, and other factors that lead deterioration. Strengthening/repair techniques are typically used upgrade the strength or enhance durability, which extends service life of structures. In current study, behavior reinforced beam strengthening by UHPC layer with/without construction joints were investigated. Seven RC beams examined experimental program. The variables continuity layer, location joint type reinforcement across joint. One was as control without any overlay. effect steel/GFRP bars also performed results compared with specimens. indicate inclusion layers at tensile side significantly increased their stiffness (20–132 %) delayed crack initiation. Meanwhile, presence overlay decreased efficiency method. Furthermore, utilizing steel /GFRP bar showed a significant loading carrying capacity (17.15–41.1 kN) had on modes failure. demonstrated experienced sufficient bond no separation observed.
